Anyone can have an impact
Creative Ways to Show Support
We have many formal programs where individuals and organizations can help us stop ocean plastic and reduce poverty. We also get many small contributions throughout the year from people who want to do more but don't fit into one of our logo or certificate programs. Each contributor is a key part of our efforts!
We can all do our part to stop ocean plastic whether it is by recycling, carrying a reusable water bottle or by advocating within our organizations for a change to business as usual. Many of our largest partners grew from a single supporter raising their voice and asking if there was a better way to do things within their organizations.
On a personal level, one supporter hosted a holiday cocktail party and got contributions from her friends and family enabling a 3 Tonne offset. Another supporter gets organizations to offset 2 Tonnes in lieu of a traditional speakers fee for his presentations. These creative solutions all add up and help support our efforts.
Nature Hommage is one of those businesses with a creative solution. Started by two friends in Sweden, Nature Hommage is a line of women’s athletic wear that wanted to have an impact. With initial production runs currently in the hundreds of units not thousands, they are nevertheless making a contribution to our efforts for every piece they sell on their Kickstarter. Founders Anisa Nordén and Jenny Eckerud told us their story which highlights their commitment to making an impact with their business.
Traveling across South East Asia, we saw the direct effects of plastics on marine life. But that was not all, we also had difficulties finding sustainable activewear – one that truly resonated with the materials and style we loved. And so, together, we decided to align our passions and challenge the traditional activewear industry by making sustainability the core concept of our brand.
We feel a responsibility to give back to the ocean, and Nature Hommage is our way of doing that. Our tailored activewear pieces are made from recycled plastics, such as fishing nets retrieved from oceans and landfills worldwide.
